Description[]

The Bloodfouler is a Legendary Greatsword; a massive greatsword with a similar shape of an odachi that is as fearsome as it is long, commissioned by an unknown member of the Ministry during their training to one day become a prophet. The blade is well decorated in a crimson pattern, as well as its sheathe proving its intricate craft even more. It consists of a now worn, serrated blade and a hilt wrapped in scarlet cloth. The odachi sports decorative symbols along its make, and spikes that crop out opposite to the edge early into the blade's spine. It also comes with a strapped and black leather sheathe.

The Bloodfouler scales off Heavy Weapons alongside Bloodrend. The weapon can be acquired by retrieving three tomes from the following:

  1. Volu, who is leaned against the wall in Outpost Antumbra's basement.
  2. As a drop from Chaser, Scholar of the Crimson Contract.
  3. As a drop from The Understrand after defeating the Ministry Agent.

When all three have been retrieved, they can be placed on the case that is right next to Volu, thus putting the Bloodfouler into your hands.

It can also be obtained as a direct drop from Chaser, as well as The Diluvian Mechanism.

Critical[]

For the standing critical, the user moves forward in the direction they are facing doing a 360° sweep, striking the opponent and applying Blood Poisoning and briefly ragdolling them. The standing critical has the following stats: 140% of scaled damage, inflicts 10% Blood Poisoning, and has a 1 second windup.

For the running critical, the user rushes forward and performs a much quicker sweep before striking the opponent, applying Blood Poisoning. The running critical has the following stats: 115% of scaled damage, inflicts 10% Blood Poisoning, has a 0.75 second windup, and deals 35+ posture.

The cooldown for both criticals is 10 seconds.

Trivia[]

  • The sheathe depicts symbols of The Ministry, alongside an emblem resembling the symbol for Notes, the Moonseye, and another pattern.
  • The creator of the Bloodfouler is likely an Etrean due to the Ministry's ties with Etrea, as well as the weapon's shape being derived from Etrean make.
  • It does not change appearance with Alloyblood.
  • Despite coming with a sheathe, the Poser's Ring does not work with it and nor does the Paired Soul Talent from the Vigil Initiate, Cloak of Winds, and Royal Etrean Guard Outfits .
  • The weapon is likely a reference to Rakshasa's Great Katana from Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
