Description[]

The Chrysid people are an aspect that resemble moths, bearing their compound eyes and feathery antennae. They are a rare aspect to see, and they carry close ties with the other aspects of Greathive despite their conflicting view on technology. They have a stat bonus of 2 Agility and 3 Charisma, as well as the ability to track attacking foes through terrain by automatically shedding "Mothwing Dust" onto them.

Traits[]

Seaborne Mothwing Dust
  • You release Mothwing Dust when others are the first to strike, granting you vision of your attacker. Your antennae improve your peripheral senses, narrowing the angle at which you can be backstabbed.
    • Once per combat instance, the first person to attack you is highlighted red for 30 seconds, outlining them through walls. Useful to find people with long ranged attacks or in dark areas. This will not proc if you instigated the fight.
    • The angles at which you can be assassinated or backstabbed are reduced.

  • The Chrysid used to be part of the Greathive aspects, alongside Vesperians and Ganymedes. However, they split off due to their belief of faith over technology.
  • Despite splitting off from the Greathives, Chrysid are still welcome to reside there. As explained by Hiri, there are "no hard feelings" between the Greathives and Chrysids.
  • Many Chrysids choose to reside in the Lullaby Isles, an archipelago surrounded by the Stoneseye Range, a dense ring of mountains outside the coast of Markor. The Isles hold fertile soil, resulting in rich agriculture, being directly supported by the the Stoneseye Range's volcanic activity. This location is not seen in-game and only mentioned.
  • Chrysids native to the Isles are known as Aecta (Aecti in plural), and speak in the Moonlit Dialect.
  • Every village in the Lullaby Isles serves the Lady Confessor, a theocratic dictator which decides what is sin, and punishes those who stand in her way.
  • Within the central isles of the Lullaby Isles is a city-state where the council of the Moonlit Faith resides.
  • Hiri, Liviu, Lake, Ottilde, and Marro reveal lore about the Chrysids.
  • Many Chrysids believe that the appearance of a collar signifies that one of their own has attained wisdom, possibly a form of Elder identification.

  • +2 Agility
  • +3 Charisma
  • When attacked, release a mist that highlights your attacker for 30 seconds.

    Trivia[]

    • Chrysid is tied with Kiron for having the most variants out of all aspects, both having 7 base variants and 1 Hallowtide variant for an astonishing 8 total variants. For reference, no other aspect has more than 6 total variants.
    • The Seer variant may be a direct reference to The Seer from Hollow Knight
    • The Hallowtide variant vaguely resembles someone afflicted by the Infection from Hollow Knight, which would make sense given that the entity that created the Infection, the Radiance, was worshipped by the Moth Tribe.
      • Additionally, it'd also continue the trend of the Greathive aspects having inspiration for their design(s) taken from Hollow Knight.
