Overview[]
Echoes are a currency that is obtained by wiping characters. The amount of Echoes gained through wiping increases based on how much progress the character had made before being wiped.
Echoes can be spent on Upgrades and Unlocks; permanent buffs that transfer with each Character Wipe. While in the character creation menu, the Echo Shop tab can be used to spend Echoes on Upgrades and Unlocks. In addition, Modifiers can be enabled in the Echo Modifier menu.
- Modifiers are increases to difficulty that increase the amount of Echoes gained from wiping. Multiple Modifiers can be enabled at once. There are currently 13 Modifiers available, providing a total cumulative 3.1x modifier to Echo gain.
- Echo Upgrades are account-wide, so purchasing an upgrade on one slot will affect the rest.
- Echo Unlocks are account-wide, so purchasing an unlock on one slot will often affect the rest. Unlocks that pertain to new slots (like Starter Weapons or Tools) will not impact pre-existing slots however.
The maximum amount of Echoes that a character can get (excluding rebargaining with Yun'Shul) is 140. (441 with all Echoes Modifier)
Ranks[]
W Rank being obtained
Ranks are granted to the character upon wiping, based on how much base Echoes they have obtained (before multipliers)
Ranks by themselves do nothing, beside rank W, S and A that give a badge and, in the case of W, an emerald name on the player list. The emerald name overrides Silver & Gold names from Chime of Conflict.
- A Rank gives 1 character slot for free.
- S Rank is achievable by doing all Echoes tasks (listed below).
- A unique W Rank is achievable by obtaining S Rank while having enabled every Echoes Modifier, excluding Glass Bones.
What rank your character will receive depends on amount of Echoes you collect, without taking multipliers from Echo Modifiers into consideration.
|
|
Rank | Echoes Amount |
|---|---|---|
|

Echo Triumphs[]
Echoes are awarded depending on the number of Triumphs the character accomplished before wiping. Each triumph awards a different number of Echoes, and with a small number of exceptions, each Triumph can only be achieved once.
Any item stored within your bank will not count for its respective Echo Triumph. For example, you cannot store an Enchant Stone and use that to complete the "Enchant an item" or "Soulbound an item" tasks.

Echo Talents/Items[]
Example of an Echo Talent unlocked
Quickfang Echo Unlock
Other than replayability, Echoes can also be Talents and Items; all acquired under meeting requirements and completing quests.
Echo Talents or Items, once acquired for the first time, can be obtained in later Power Levels per Character after. If you've obtained an Echo Talent on a different slot, you can talk to Yamaketzal to unlock the Talent on your current slot. This is useful for power 20 slots as they cannot level up to obtain the Echo Talents you've already obtained previously.
Echo Quests[]
(Power 2) Chain of Perfection [Echo Talent] - Gain Chain of Perfection at Power 2. Obtained by defeating any boss without getting hit by one of the boss' attacks.
- Increases PvE damage by 5% each melee hit you deal without taking hits in return.
- Unlocked on the initial slot, and any characters or slots created after obtainment upon reaching power 2.
- The maximum threshold of damage is 2x.
- Chain of Perfection does not work in PvP.
- Unlocked on the initial slot, and any characters or slots created after obtainment upon reaching power 2.
(Power 3) Engage [Echo Talent] - Gain Engage at Power 3 . Obtained by completing the quest given by Etrean Soldier Arthur at the entrance of The Garden Reservoir.
- Landing M1 attacks restores some of your Ether.
- Counts as a Bravery quest, meaning when completed, it will grant you an additional hand of cards on your next level up or immediately if you are power 20, assuming you haven't already completed a different Bravery quest.
(Power 5) Critical Attack [Echo Talent] - Gain Critical Attack at Power 5. Obtained by completing the quest given by Etrean Soldier Arthur at the entrance of The Garden Reservoir.
- Landing a hit with your critical restores 30% of your posture.

(Power 10) Thresher Scales [Echo Talent] - Gain Thresher scales at power 10. Obtained by completing the quest of Jessamine near the entrance of the Widow's Hollow.

(Visiting the Eastern Luminant) Hive Gate Open and Fountain Teleporters Unlocked - Gained Hive Gate and Fountain Teleporters after visiting the Eastern Luminant. Obtained by washing your face at least once at Lightkeeper Temple.
- Following Hive R&D, the restrictions on the Fountain Gate network's Vow have been relaxed. Merely having seen the majesty of the Greathive from afar is enough to create the mental link that enables one to utilize the network. Fountain Gates can now be used at any Power so long as you've visited the Eastern Luminant on that character and have unlocked the Hive Gate on your account
Notes[]
- Buying most Echo Upgrades and some of the Unlocks will apply their effects to previously created slots. Any of the Starter/Starting: Weapon, Tools, Equipment, Knowledge, and Notes will not be applied to pre-existing slots however.
- Visually, combining all Echo Modifiers grants 3.1x Echoes, but, dividing 441/3.1 will give you 137.8125. Instead, Dividing by 441/3.15 will give you 140, the maximum amount of Echoes. This is due to the game always rounding to the nearest tenth, even if the value is not true.
- The actual effects of "Resonance Rarity" boosts the chance to receive Corrupted and Legendary Resonances by 0.2x per upgrade, with your chance doubling at the max upgrade.
- There are a few sources of damage that bypass Glass Bones' effects, allowing you to take the damage without being knocked. These are:
- The Boulder training gear
- Starvation
- Loose Change does not make you lose Notes when you take damage from any source like the description implies, instead only attacks from humanoids reduce your Notes, though it can be inconsistent at times.
- Any Mantra hand not granted from leveling, and any Talent/Mantra hand granted from Deep Shrines do not get autopicked with Destined so you can abuse this to look for cards with more comfort.
- Unlike all the other bosses in the game, defeating Maestro Evengarde Rest, Titus Fulminus Destellus, Heart of Enmity and Parliament do not reward Echoes.
- This technically makes them the only true "optional" bosses in the game, as they are not required for W Rank.
- Chain of Perfection was initially made to not gain stacks on mantra hits. But due to massive community uproar the change was reverted but made multihits give you less stacks.
- The Leather Gloves and Boots from the Starting Equipment Echo Unlock are equipped automatically at the end of character creation. This means, if you've chosen Lone Warrior, you can spawn in the Trial of One with equipment on.
- Attempting to unequip the Leather Gloves or Boots from the Starting Equipment Echo Unlock will cause the item to be permanently deleted.
- Not only does using the Idol of Yun'Shul count towards the "Bargained with Yun'Shul" Echo task, but it will also count when used in the Fragments of Self. However, your deal if used in fragments must not be Resonance Reroll, or it will remove it from your completed tasks.
- Multifaceted makes the 5 innate Aspect points free to allocate. For example instead of having 3 Fortitude and 2 Willpower on a Vesperian, all of your stats will be at 0 and you will be given 5 free points to invest. This allows for much more build diversity with all aspects.
- After purchasing Multifaceted, any pre-existing slot that didn't invest into stats that were increased by their Aspect will be able to use Shrine of Mastery to reallocate them.
- Unfortunately, after purchasing Multifaceted, any pre-existing slot that had above 100 in any attribute will have all of their points above 100 uninvested and refunded. This also disallows you from going above 100 invest in any attribute regardless of your aspect.
- Elementalist allows you to have more then 2 elements on character starts so rather then have just 2 maximum you can start with 4 or 3 or even all of them, with this you can also allocate your attunement points freely such as starting a character with 3 Flame 2 Ice 3 Shadow and 2 Gale, or 9 Blood and 1 Thunder, etc. This will take points out of your starting points though.
Trivia[]
- On March 16th, 2025, Chad09999 or Midq became the first player to achieve W rank with the Glass Bones modifier.
- On December 13th, 2025, with the addition of the Vow of Iron, the Ironwoken and Vow of Thorns Echo Modifiers were removed form the game.
- The Leather Gloves and Leather Boots you get with the "Starter Equipment" unlock can sometimes be enchanted.
