An essential mechanic in Deepwoken, primarily used to resist damage from most sources, while also providing various benefits. It can be used to improve (or worsen) your character's appearance. If you're looking for Armor as in Outfits, then go to Outfits.

Item Stat

An example of an item with rolled stats (in beige) and guaranteed stats (in grey)

Equipment is a type of item usually found in chests, but can also be exchanged for using an Artifact or by various other means. They can be equipped to grant their listed stat bonuses.

There are 7 different types of equipment: Head, Arms, Legs, Torso, Face, Ears, and Rings.

Most equipment comes with innate stats that always appear, for example: +1 Posture for the Star Dusters or +8 Health from an Authority Helm. Some can even have Talents (These Talents cannot be to meet Talent requirements, and they do not grant the Talent's stat bonuses(e.g. you cannot use Mercenary's Boots' Endurance Runner to obtain Conditioned Runner, nor will this equipment grant any Passive Agility)). Only some Head, Legs, Arms and Relics Equipments have Talents. Talents granted by equipment do not stack with their regular variants. Innate stats are displayed in grey, and Talents are displayed in light blue.

By wearing all equipment within a Set, you may be eligible to obtain the equipment's Set Talent; an additional Talent that is exclusive to that Set. To make up for the Set Talents being exclusive and requiring you to wear equipment that otherwise might not be that good, the Set Talents are very powerful, but niche and specific. Not all equipment sets have a Set Talent. Set Talents are displayed in turquoise.

All equipment (with few exceptions), when obtained, will roll for random stats. These random stats are dictated by Pips, indicated at the bottom right of the tooltip and at the bottom of the tool. These Pips represent the bonus stats of an item and what amount of the stat they grant.
All Pips are displayed in order of rarity, which is: Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Legendary

Pips are rolled with stat diversity, requiring that at least two different stats are present, meaning equipment purely consisting of one stat are impossible (bugged or old equipment will be rerolled when equipped). This rule is only applied to equipment that has 3 or more pips.

Every equipment item you come across has a chance to be Starred. Stars on an equipment item will grant it an additional amount of set pips, depending on how many Stars the equipment item has:
★ = +1 Rare Pips (Head, Arms, and Legs also get +1 HP)
★★ = +2 Rare Pips (Head, Arms, and Legs also get +2 HP)
★★★ = +2 Rare Pips +1 Legendary Pip (Head, Arms, and Legs also get +3 HP) (Torso, Face, Ears, and Rings cannot be 3 Star)

These pips can be rerolled by using Armorer's Needle and Gilded Needle.

Trivia/Notes[]

  • In previous versions of the game, Equipment could occasionally spawn with one of three different rarity tiers: Ascended, Enlightened, or Celestial. This system was replaced with stars for the sake of consistency with weapon rarity.
  • If you want to wear a specific equipment piece, but it has awful stats, you can smelt something with good stats and apply the piece you want to wear as vanity.
  • The Max number of Stars for Torso, Face, Ears, and Ring Equipment is 2 Stars (★★)
  • You can't enchant Torso, Face, Ears, and Ring Equipment. However, there's a couple of instances of these items existing due to being obtainable back in Verse One. There has been evidence shown that unobtainable enchanted equipment won't void even when re-equipped, and the enchant still functions as it normally would (Info from October 12, 2023)
  • Mythical Pips, despite being said to exist by devs, are unused. No equipment piece uses mythical pips.
  • Stars increase the sell price of a Weapon/Equipment. +5 Notes (★) | +20 Notes (★★) | +50 Notes (★★★)
  • Stat diversity was supposedly enforced on the September 5th, 2022, update, meaning that when 2 or more pip or "buff slots" on a piece of Ring, Ears, Torso, and Face equipment, and 3 or more pips on Head, Arms, and Leg equipment one would be forced to be different. However, this has either been implemented incorrectly, bugged, or a typo was made in the update logs specifically for the Ring, Ears, Torso, and Face equipment, because it is very easy to find equipment that violates this rule such as rings with only two pips that are of the same type. The 3+ pip rule on Head, Arms, and Leg equipment have been functioning correctly and will promptly reroll a pip if a piece of equipment violating the rule is equipped.
    • Due to this, you'll have to take the following theoretical kits with a grain of salt, as this bug could result in higher maximums.
  • Highest theoretical stealth kit in game is 30% stealth. (10% Dark Owl Chapeau, 6% Mercenary's Garb/Ministry Cloak/Dark Owl Cloak, 5% Shrouded Capes, 6% Duelist's Mask, 3% Master Thief Earrings)
  • Highest theoretical ETH kit in game is 415 ETH. (4x 30 ETH Moon and Waning Rings, 68 ETH (Drowned) Diver's Light Plate or equivalent, 44 ETH Fauld of Enmity, 64 ETH Tillian's Beret, 54 ETH Star Boots or equivalent, 30 ETH Hivelord Mask, 35 ETH Old Blood Earrings)
  • Highest theoretical Posture kit is 21.5 Posture. (4x 3 Posture Legendary Rings, 2 Posture Khan Helmet/Gladiator Helmet/Western Outlaw Hat, 1 Posture Threadwork Kilt, 3 Posture Glassdancer Wraps/Moonseye Gauntlets/Western Outlaw Robes, 3.5 Posture Wartreads of Enmity with max Anchor pips)
  • Highest theoretical HP kit in game is 170 HP. (2x 9 HP Moon and 2x 9 HP Waning Rings, 47 HP (Drowned) Diver's Light Plate/Bastions of Enmity, 18 Fauld of Enmity, 30 HP Silver Knight's Helm or equivalent, 32 HP Star Boots or equivalent, 2 HP Moonlit Earrings, 5 HP Citadel Frames)
    • Having multiple pieces of equipment with drowned does not increase your stats further.
  • The Damage vs Monsters and Monster Armor pips are the only pip types to be removed from the game. In an update on June 24th, 2025, these stats were effectively made innate with the addition of the Bestiary system, removing their necessity. Following this change, all DvM pips were transferred into Health or Sanity pips (depending on the equipment type) and all Monster Armor pips were transferred into Physical Resistance pips.
