The Factions of Lumen feature their own diverse narratives, characters, objectives, and territories. They serve as the key driving forces of the game.
The player's reputation shapes how both them and the faction interacts with each other, positively or negatively.

The primary and reputable factions in Deepwoken include:

| Etrea |
Also known as the Kingdom of Etrea, it occupies half of the Eastern Luminant with its territory being in Etris and the Isle of Vigils. It is temporarily ruled by the Lord Regent. |
| Etrean Royalists | Serving under the Kingdom of Etrea before they suffered under consisting of four great clans. These clans are known as Ganba, Mofisu, Kobura, and Anako. They only appear in the Vow of Iron Gamemode. |
| The Central Authority |
A predominant military and political force run by Sovereign Drallis Ehr. The Authority's goal is to unite all of Lumen in order to stand against the Depths. In the Eastern Luminant, they are at war with Etrea and the Hundred Legions. |
| The Divers |
A division of The Citadel of Markor that conducts expeditions into the Depths to study its nature and gather materials. |
| The Hive |
Operating on four Greathives of Lumen, they seek to rise above the Tides through their use of Lifeweave. |
| The Ignition Union |
A freelancer company that is primarily focused on mining expeditions, trades, and Depths exploration. They often come into conflict with the Divers and the Summer Company. |
| The Summer Company |
Founded by Gunsmith Rosen, the Summer Company is the primary manufacturer of firearms that were brought back from The Canticlysm. They are often found sabotaging the Ignition Union for the sake of aggressive competition. |
| The Children of Navae |
Primarily a Gremor-focused group that are usually nomadic and worship the celestial Navae. |
| The Hundred Legions |
A predominant power in the Western Luminant, the Hundred Legions are an empire consisting of Khans. After a recent pact breaking between them and the Authority, |
| The Knives of Eylis |
Serving under Eylis, the Punished Dreamer, the Knives of Eylis are a ruthless mercenary organization that seeks to get the job done, no matter what banner they serve under. |
| Lost Celtor |
Fallen to the Submergence of its own nation, the remnants of Celtor are no more than degraded survivors that slowly succumb to the effects of the Depths. |
| The Ministry |
Led by the Nine Prophets, the Ministry seeks to achieve great power and plunge the entirety of Lumen into the Depths. |

| The Golden Rats | Warriors who don themselves in gold. |
| The Chest Masters | Primarily Felinor, they are aficionados of lockpicking, capable of opening Chests with precision. They keep their methods a secret, however. |
| The Covenant of Flame | A group of people worshipping Amorus Pleeksty as the pioneer of Flamecharm and a Deepwoken. |
| The Citadel of Markor | The most prominent research organization in all of Lumen, occupying the Central Luminant alongside The Authority. |
| The Starkindred Church | A predominant power in the Western Luminant. They are zealous worshippers of the Celestials, using their Holy Ichor to prevent it from falling into the wrong hands. |
| The Moonlit Faith | The Chrysids on an archipelago in the Central Luminant, which split off from the Hive to set their focus on religion dedicated to the Moonseye. |
| The Justicars | Hailing from the North, the Justicar seek to walk a path they interpret on their own and see fit. |
