Description[]

Flamecharm is an Attunement that grants the user the ability to create flames using Ether, giving them access to abilities which focus on DOT and AoE effects, while still providing a notable amount of utility and mobility.

This Attunement is ideal for new players, due to it's innate ability to grip knocked humanoid NPCs with it's DOT burn effect, alongside it's superior utility in comparison with other attunements, making progression and exploration much easier.

As mentioned previously, flamecharm focuses on DOT and AoE effects. This attunement's mantras usually create a large hit box either around the user or in front of them, making hitting your opponent incredibly easy at close range. To compensate, it's mantras rarely propel the user horizontally, with most of it's mantras either slowing the user down or preventing movement almost entirely. This makes builds with lots of movement options and range viable against this attunement, as it limits the amount of mantras you have to worry about. Do note that it does have a couple of options in order to close the distance or deal damage at considerable range, namely Fire Palm, Flaming Scourge modified with Reversal Spark, Flame Dancer talents.

Obtainment[]

The Attunement Trainer, Amashi, can be located at the Songseeker Temple in Songseeker Wilds. When speaking to Amashi, he will request five Dying Embers. If you have obtained Flamecharm previously on your account, Amashi will request only two Dying Embers instead. Once you give Amashi the Dying Embers, he will hand you the Hearthblood Potion which you must drink in order to obtain the Attunement. Alternatively, you can simply pick the Random option when selecting your Attunement in the character creation screen, this has a chance of unlocking Flamecharm without you needing to unlock it yourself. If you don't get it the first time, you can just wipe and retry until you get it. This works for all other Attunements as well (excluding Shadowcast, Ironsing and Bloodrend).

Training[]

Flamecharm can be trained with a combination of the Hearthgem and landing Flamecharm Mantras.

Along with all other elements, users can see their Mantras becoming stronger with practice:

  • At 1 Flamecharm, players will receive the Flamecharmer Talent. This allows players to obtain 0-star Flamecharm Mantras.
  • At 20 Flamecharm, players will receive the Adept Flamecharmer Talent. This allows players to obtain 1-star Flamecharm mantras.
  • At 30 Flamecharm, players will receive the Expert Flamecharmer Talent. This allows players to obtain 2-star Flamecharm mantras.
  • Finally, 50 Flamecharm, players will receive the Master Flamecharmer Talent. This allows players to obtain 3-star Flamecharm Mantras.

You can speak to Amashi to upgrade your Flamecharm Mantras for 100 Notes each. Each upgrade purchased will make the next upgrade for the same Mantra 100 Notes more expensive.

  • Upgrading a Flamecharm Mantra from level 1 to level 2 costs 100 Notes2 and requires 20 Flamecharm investment.
  • Upgrading a Flamecharm Mantra from level 2 to level 3 costs 200 Notes2 and requires 40 Flamecharm investment.
  • Upgrading a Flamecharm Mantra from level 3 to level 4 costs 300 Notes2 and requires 60 Flamecharm investment.
  • Upgrading a Flamecharm Mantra from level 4 to level 5 costs 400 Notes2 and requires 80 Flamecharm investment.

Purchasing Mantra levels will cost 50% more Notes when using the Songwright NPC.

Flamecharm Unbound can be obtained by defeating any humanoid boss (Duke, Chaser, Ferryman, etc), while having 75 points invested into the attunement.

The formula to calculate Mantra damage is included on the Mantras page. Alternatively, use this Desmos calculator.

Trivia[]

  • All Burn types deal Flamecharm damage.
    • Base burn has a base damage of 3.33 per tick with 5 Flamecharm scaling, ticking 2.4 times per second. This gives base burn a DPS of 8 at 0 Flamecharm and a DPS of 12 at 100 Flamecharm.
    • Azure Flames burn deals 12.5% more damage than base burn with the same tick rate and scaling. This means Azure Flames burn has a DPS of 9 at 0 Flamecharm and 13.5 at 100 Flamecharm.
    • White Flames from Corrupt Shard Bow or Edenbrand Hellcoil has differing stats from base burn, with 3.21 base damage per tick and 5 Flamecharm scaling, at a rate of 3 ticks per second. This gives White Flames a DPS of 9.6 at 0 Flamecharm and a DPS of 14.4 at 100 Flamecharm.
      • White Flames or Deepfire Ring + Azure Flames has a DPS of 10.8 at 0 Flamecharm and 16.25 at 100 Flamecharm.
      • Deepfire Ring applies the same upsides and downsides that White Flames has to all other burn types, lowering burn's base damage but increasing the tick rate. The DPS from White Flames and Deepfire Ring is identical, though Deepfire Ring does not affect White Flames. Deepfire Ring is seen as a direct upgrade due to the higher DPS.
    • Puppet Burn from Twisted Puppets deals 87.5% less damage than base burn with the same tick rate and scaling. This gives Puppet Burn a DPS of 1 at 0 Flamecharm and 1.5 at 100 Flamecharm. Additionally, this burn type drains 6.25 Ether per tick (15 Ether per second) from affected targets and spawns Puppets every 4 seconds.
    • Shadow Burn from Twisted Puppets deals 75% less damage than base burn with the same tick rate and scaling. This gives Shadow Burn a DPS of 2 at 0 Flamecharm and 3 at 100 Flamecharm. Additionally, this burn type drains 6.25 Ether per tick (15 Ether per second) from affected targets.
  • Burn didn't always scale on your Flamecharm investment, nor was it always affected by Flamecharm resistance. This was added in the October 31st, 2024 update.
  • Burn benefits from general PEN, such as PEN from Strength or Thresher Claws.
  • Searing Snare has the same sound effects as Chaser's Burning Blood Explosion move.
  • All Flamecharm Mantras deal 10% reduced damage in the rain, unless the user has the Unyielding Inferno Talent.
    • This also applies to the First Light Critical and Twisted Puppets' Puppets.
  • Eruption delay can be reduced with the Deepfire Ring, and Eruption AoE can be increased with the Empowered Eruption buff from Empowered Eruption and Flash Point Talents as well as Azure Flames.
  • Some Mantras are inspired from pyromancy and attacks from games created by the FromSoftware Inc. game company, the company also happens to be a large inspiration for the entirety of Deepwoken.
    • The Flame of Denial Mantra is named and acts in a similar way to the Tears of Denial Miracle from Dark Souls III, preventing the player from dying to one-shot moves.
    • "Flame Within" is named and acts in a similar way to Power Within from Dark Souls, boosting overall damage while draining health.
    • Although the Fire Palm Mantra looks similar to the "Ignis" spell from the Roblox game Rogue Lineage, the Mantra is actually inspired from the "Combustion" skill in Dark Souls and Shinobi Prosthetic: Flame Vent from the game Sekiro, as the spell does NOT multihit; instead, being a single large hit that sets on fire.
  • Although the Flame Blind Mantra looks similar to the snap version of the "Velo" spell from the Roblox game Rogue Lineage, the Mantra is actually inspired from the Valorant character "Phoenix" as one of his abilities involves throwing an orb flash made of fire.
  • The Fire Gun Mantra is most likely a nod to "Higan" (火ガン, literally meaning "Fire Gun"), one of the moves of the Mera Mera no Mi from One Piece.
  • The Flame Sentinel Mantra is likely a reference to the "Life Detector" technique from the Stand "Magician's Red" from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which can detect lifeforms manifesting as a floating flame candelabrum.
  • The Flaming Scourge Mantra is inspired by one of Katakuri's Mochi Mochi no Mi moves from One Piece called Buzzcut Mochi.
  • The Flame Ballista and Flame Repulsion's spring spark variant are references to Jujutsu Kaisen.
    • Flame Ballista is Sukuna's "Fuga" [1], and Flame Repulsion's spark takes inspiration from Gojo's Reversal Red.
  • There used to be a Mantra called Flame Tornado during the beta. It worked similarly to Rising Flame with the same VFX but did not push either the enemy or the user into the air.
  • If a player procs "Meteor Impact" on another Flamecharm user who also has the Talent, should the victim parry the meteor slam, their character will immediately attempt it themselves, effectively reversing the attack.
    • Meteor Impact used to also apply to Uppercutting and had a range multiplier, but was removed due to balancing reasons, along with the range simply adding "+3" to your weapon range.
  • Flamecharm is a great attunement for grinding in The Depths as Undying Flames causes the user's Graceful Flame to work in the First Layer and restore sanity.
  • The Flamecharm Attunement can be used to burn multiple knocked enemies at once and is extremely useful in PVE or in Ganks/Guild wars.
  • The Graceful Flame Mantra allows anyone to cook food, regardless of its Level.
  • Ash Slam used to scale on Strength, as well as scale much higher, before a weekly changed it to pure Flame scaling.
  • Previously, and for a long time, Flamecharm was once the only attunement without a Legendary Elemental weapon, excluding the Hero's Blade of Flame. This changed in the April 4, 2024 update, which introduced the Ysley's Pyre Keeper.
  • If the character has the Azure Flames Talent while using a Railblade, the effects of the Railblade critical attack will turn blue and apply azure flames upon a successful critical attack instead of regular flames. It can also work with Twisted Puppets, having the critical turn black and spawn in Puppets.
  • You cannot have both Azure Flames and Twisted Puppets at the same time.
    • Additionally, you cannot have any combination of Twisted Puppets, Eruption Path, and Flashboil at the same time.
  • Before its release, Flaming Scourge was a Mantra which could not be reliably blocked, parried or dodged, and could result in those being hit by it being, at best, flung and killed unfairly, or at worst, banned from the game. Similar to Shade Wisp, this Mantra had not passed testing, on account of it banning all the testers who had been trying to test it. A similar controversy was the addition of Ysley's Pyre Keeper, which was also hidden from testers and led to an overpowered, albeit less buggy, release.
  • Flamecharm was invented by Amorus Pleeksty, a Tiran who later went on to become a Deepwoken.
  • The Fire Gun Mantra gives the player fingers, similar to when casting a Ritual Cast Mantra. Its there, but it's difficult to see due to particles.
  • Before the Perfect Cast mechanic was removed, Flame Grab and Jolt Grab were among very few abilities and the only Mantras to have an innate unique interaction with it. When Perfect Casted, the duration of these Mantras would be shortened and capped, playing "extinguish"-like VFX unique from the regular version.
    • A video summarizing this effect can be found here.
