Fragmentsofselfwider

Fragments of Self is a location in Deepwoken. It is a sub-location in The Depths.

Overview[]

Fragments of Self acts as the sad purgatory of Deepwoken. Players are sent to it whenever they die in The Depths, choose to wipe their character in the main menu, or selecting Obliteration in Trial of One.

Contents[]

Campfire[]

Players can use this to remove equipment they want to pass down at the Hippocampal Pool.

Hippocampal Pool[]

Located to the left-hand side, beyond a small parkour section. Interacting with it allows you to pass down two (up to six, if you have the Echoes upgrades) items that will transfer to your next character. It will also allow you to obtain False Memory as a way to de-equip your primary weapon.

  • You can pass down a Legendary Weapon or Enchanted Item, albeit at a cost of 40 Echoes.

Shrine of the Drowned[]

Located before Self, a statue that allows you to pay 1000 Robux to return to the Surface. This can only be used once per character and requires at least Power 2.

The Legacy menu[]

The Triumphs section shows the player's achievement across the progression, these will add points for Echoes, a currency that purchases upgrades for their next and existing characters.

The Echoes section shows how much echoes you earned, and the Rank Based on it. Rankings range from E-W, Rank S being extremely rare and Rank W even more so with the added requirement of having every Echo modifier active (except Vow of Thorns and Glass Bones) while also meeting the requirements for S Rank.

Captain[]

The Captain, otherwise known as Captain Orlandeau, is located on the stone arch to the right of the player. He's a dark-skinned, translucent Felinor wearing a Brigand's Bicorn. Talking to him allows you to replay the Tutorial and forces you to start with the Castaway Origin.

Trivia[]

  • The music for this area is The End. by Naktigonis
    • This track also plays while under the effects of a Void Spire.
  • If you fall off one of the islands, you will be teleported back to spawn, falling down from above.
  • You cannot M1 or use Mantras here, but you can use your weapon's critical or side-hand pistol (if you have one equipped), though it can't interact with the environment.
  • There is currently no known way to die here, as fall damage is disabled and so is any form of PVP damage, starving also only drains the player's health down to 50%. It is unclear if bleeding out is possible, using Boulder does not execute you here, and dying here would most definitely be a bug and would send you here again.
  • Owls and Lesser Angels can seemingly spawn here, but they are unable to actually damage you.
  • Chests can also spawn here, but they cannot be opened.
  • Fragments of Self is virtually located above The Depths, which could potentially (but unlikely) be the reason why Deep Owls are seen up there. If you were to somehow bypass the automatic teleportation barrier below, you may land back in Layer 1. Nothing comes of this other than the ability to distract mobs and roam around.
  • Self doesn't update if you de-equip or equip equipment, meaning it will look like your character when you wiped.
  • If you wiped your character through the red skull in the main menu, "Self" will be a plain white character. Due to your character not loading in the game when you wipe, since you were in the main menu, the game does not have any data to generate "Self" as it appears as the character when you wiped.
  • If you died during Hell Mode, the red screen tint stays, although this is most likely a bug.
  • It is actually possible to chop down the trees around the area if you have a Lumber Axe.
  • You can hypothetically save somebody from the fragments by headstacking, but it has only ever been done once and headstacking has since been made harder.
