Greathive Aratel is a location in Deepwoken. It is a settlement in the Aratel Sea.
Overview[]
Greathive Aratel is a city built in a giant tree on the sea. Inside this tree is a large settlement, the Greathive itself.
To enter Greathive Aratel, you must have washed your face at the Lightkeeper Temple (requires you to be at least power 10 to wash your face) on any character or slot, and have visited the eastern luminant at least once on your current character. Once you meet these requirements, you will be able to use the Greathive Fountains found in The Lordsgrove, in The Hidden Village, behind The King's Palace in Etris, and behind a tree near Spelltrainer Friid at the Isle of Vigils.
Alternatively, you can sail to Greathive Aratel, but actually getting to the top requires mobility mantras, clever usage of gliders, lots of parkour and jumping on the heads of players. If you washed your face at the Lightkeeper Temple and have already invoked the Greathive fountain found in The Lordsgrove, you can sail to the shipyard of the Greathive Aratel and use the fountain in there in order to get teleported up to the entrance floor of Greathive Aratel.

Quests[]
Tending the Beloved Quest (Suri Quest)[]
- Go and talk to Suri. He will give you a flower, and a task to go and place it at the grave of his brother on the Isle of Vigils. The flower can be destroyed by unnecessary movement (taking damage), though, so he suggests taking the safest route.
- If you come back to Suri after completing this quest, you get a Vibrant Gem.
- A reference to a quest in Hollow Knight with the same premise.
Blooming Souls Quest (Soul Flower Quest)[]
- Talk to the Librarian named Regek, in the Archives Room. They will tell you to fetch 3 Souls from special flowers that bloom within the Greathive, all of which located in the Canopy Plaza. They are called Soulblooms. (You need to wash your face as the temple to be able to take the quest)
- A red flower located outside near the observatory balcony. Mind your footing.
- A white flower, located near the Blacksmith, facing in front of it.
- A blue flower, hanging at the side of a tree root across the room from the Blacksmith.
- Completing this quest gives a handful of EXP and access to upgrade Physical Mantras.

Trivia[]
- The music for this area is Of Chitin, Kith And Kin by Naktigonis
- Parts of the Greathive can be seen emitting black particles, which is fireproofing that allows Flamecharm to be used within the Greathive without the whole thing going up in flames.
- The combat music for this area is A Symphony Of Strife by Naktigonis
- Suri's Quest is most likely inspired by Hollow Knight, which also has a mission to deliver a delicate flower that will be destroyed upon taking damage, to a grave. This theory is also supported by many similarities between Vesperians and bugs in Hollow Knight.
- Everyone inside Greathive Aratel is a Hivekin: either a Vesperian, Ganymede, or Chrysid.
- The Soulblooms have an option to taste the flower's sap. When attempting to do so, your Character has a violent gut feeling it is not for ingestion and ultimately decides not to.
- The "Temple of the Forgotten Flame" portal can take you to different locations in Upper Erisia.
- In order to summon boats here you need max positive reputation.
- Artifacts are able to spawn at Hive. However, originally, Bankers did not exist in Aratel meaning they couldn't be made use of, without travelling to either Fort Merit or Miner's Landing, for over two years.
- In front of the Blacksmith, there is an orange pool of liquid that can be used to refill the canteen.
- According to Destroyman III, Greathive Aratel makes the best soft shell tacos in the entire Luminant.
- Back in Verse 1, there would be only 3 Teleporters instead of 5
- "TIP: Greathive Aratel makes the best softshell tacos in the entire Eastern Luminant." - Destroyman III Quote
