A vesperian using guns

A Vesperian firing a Flintlock.

Description[]

Guns are ranged weapons that are designed to fire projectiles if the user has bullets in their inventory which are capable of adding ranged capabilities (1H only) while also providing advantages and disadvantages depending on the ore the bullets are made of. Most pistols can be purchased in the Castle at Summer Isle, except for the Dawnshot and the Silversix, with the latter being an advanced starting weapon that is purchased with echoes when creating a new character. Rifles are found only as drops from enemies. There are several different types of guns in game.

For the editor (and viewer's) sake, 1 hand wielding pistols will be referred to as "1H" for the rest of this article.

Guns have their own Talent tree - Gunslinger, however there are other gun related Talents like Outlaw for pistols.

All guns (except unloaded 1H) have a crit that makes them shoot a bullet, even if you dont have any. You won't be slowed down during the crit.

Pistol Moveset[]

Dual-Wielding[]

You can wield 2 pistols at the same time by equipping two of any pistols in both the main and side weapon slot. when using two guns, your M1's will consist of three or two consecutive shots before flourishing.

One-Handed (1H)[]

When using a singular gun you will gain an ammo counter resembling a revolver chamber above your posture bar which is reloaded by pressing Y or Z. without bullets, your M1's will do more posture damage and have a wide pistol whip attack (2-hit flourish). When your gun is loaded, attacks will gain 10% chip damage, a 15% damage multiplier and have your M1 cycle will be replaced with a longer ranged, 3-hit flourish that fires the gun. Each attack will consume one bullet.

Note that if your 1H gun is unloaded, pressing your crit button will just do a light attack, meaning there is no crit for 1H unloaded guns.

Offhand Gun[]

Using your gun as a side-weapon will not gain you the ammo counter, as it will no longer have the innate ability to fire bullets or reload. Pressing M2 will make you extend your arm and shoot, creating the usual blast you'd see in other guns with no bullet coming out. The Hip Shooter Talent can allow it to fire a projectile bullet with a 5s CD as long as your main weapon is a medium or heavy weapon.

This attack cannot be used in your M1 combo like mantras and acts as a standalone hit. The Talent Quick Draw from the Gunslinger Talent tree will make such possible, although you need to wait for the full endlag of your M1 and then use M2 otherwise the attack wont happen, which may cost you a hit during an intense fight.

The blast will inherit Enchant effects such as Storm or Obfuscation, however the damage of the gun will be 80% of the equipped pistol's scaled damage, with it's original posture damage (which is exactly 1 for all pistols except Roscoe) and all other effects like chip from the Alloyed Dawnshot or Rosen's Roscoe.

Furthermore, using a side gun with a non-light main weapon will increase the windup. Medium Weapons increase the windup by 10%. Heavy Weapons increase the windup by 25%.

Reloading[]

The amount of bullets you can load into a gun depends on the gun you have equipped. The Dragoon, Flintlock and Dawnshot can hold 4 bullets, and the Repeater and Silversix can hold 6 bullets. Reloading slows the player greatly and has a sound cue leaving them vulnerable in combat but can be canceled instantly by pressing M2. It takes 0.5 seconds to load a bullet (0.4 If the player has the Rapid Reload Talent an empty gun, and 0.25 if the Ultrakill Talent is active)

Talents[]

Pistols have their own Talent trees - Outlaw

The current obtainable pistols in the game are: Flintlock, Revolver, Dragoon, Dawnshot and it's alloyed variant, Iron Requiem and the Divine Flintlock. (Only obtainable from the Crazy Slots resonance). They are all exclusively Light weapons.

The Hip Shooter Talent can allow your side gun to fire a projectile bullet as long as your main weapon is a medium or heavy weapon.

There is a gun Talent you can learn from a quest giver named Trig outside the inn on Summer Isle. The man you need to find is on the shore to the left of the inn. If you decide to collect the man's debt you can return to Trig and give him the papers which will give you a large amount of reputation with the Summer Company and opens up the possibility of obtaining Armor Piercing when you level up (requires 30 MED or LHT) . However, if you decide to try to help the man by leaving without collecting the debt and try to confront Trig you will only get bad reputation with the Summer Company while two summer gunmen will appear to kill you, this option opens the possibility of obtaining Bulletproof (requires 20 MED or LTH or Fortitude), in case you were confused you can apologize to Trig and talk to the man again to collect his debt.

Despite having the highest range of all the weapons, utilizing the range can often be difficult. The hitboxes for guns are much like a pencil in the sense that it's not very wide or tall compared to other weapons meaning most people will easily jump over your shots.
