Description[]
Handcuffs are a pair of heavily rusted handcuffs worn by prisoners of the Central Authority. While this weapon is equipped, you will not be able to swim, use Mantras, your Resonance, hold any item in your hands, and your movement speed will be heavily reduced.
This weapon is automatically equipped upon being detained (gripped) by an Authority Ensign player or by speaking to a few Authority NPCs (Chud Steel, Drill Sergeant Kernel, High Inquisitor Merey, Sentinel Augustus, and Warden Jericho) while having Enemy or lower Authority reputation. You will also be teleported into Fort Merit's prison and a 10 minute countdown to your execution will start. If the countdown reaches 0 while you still have the handcuffs on, you will be immediately drowned and sent to The Depths.
You can remove the handcuffs by speaking to a Blacksmith or the Etrean Guardmaster. Removing your cuffs via a Blacksmith requires you to have at least neutral reputation with the faction the Blacksmith is affiliated with.
Trivia[]
- The Handcuffs share the weapon quality bonus and enchantment of your normal weapon.
- The critical of the Handcuffs is based on your fist styles.
- While handcuffed, if you get knocked by any player (including yourself through self damage), you will be teleported back into the prison.
- You gain a perpetual PvE combat tag while the handcuffs are equipped.
- Despite your hands being bound, you can still pilot Boats and use their cannons.
- Due to its all around unbearably low stats, this is the weakest weapon in the game.
- Very likely based around as a mechanic and in functions around the Bound Cuffs from Tales From The Valley
