Investment & Free Points[]

Power Levels represent your character's progression and prowess. These are increased after spending all of your Investment Points shown in the character menu by pressing Tab (by default). The amount of investment required to power up will usually be 15 Points. You can see the exception below:

  • In truth, you start the game with 30 points upon character creation, but these are usually discounted in your Attunement and initial attributes, lowering down to the usual 15. As such, if you're an experienced player and following a build's stat order it is highly recommended you tweak around these initial values to fit your desired build.

If you have the Autodidact Boon, you'll receive 3 Free Points to allocate when leveling. Adrets have this boon by default as a racial trait, and if you have both the you will instead get 6 Free Points upon every new level. Free Points allow you to increase any attributes of your choice without needing that attribute's EXP by clicking said on attribute. Autodidact and Adret points cannot be used after completing Power 20, and by then are completely useless. It is recommended to use your points as much as you can before reaching that milestone.

  • It should be noted that, if for any reason you are unable to level up despite spending all of your Investment Points, you dont possess enough EXP to level. This usually happens from using too many Free Points indiscriminately. You should go ahead and complete a few Jobs and kill mobs to continue progressing

Keep in mind that you can get said Free Points even without Autodidact or the Adret Aspect by collecting white orbs that may rarely spawn out of enemies, or by striking a deal with the Shrine of Courage.

Talent Hands & Whisper Draws & Mantras[]

Every level up you get you will be awarded either 3 Talents or 2 Talents and 1 Whisper Draw. The current levels for getting Mantras are 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 19 and 20, resulting in a total of 12 Mantras. You can also obtain more Mantras through the escaping the Depths, Kelsius' Quest, Deep Shrines, and for the more experienced players; Monster Mantras.

Keep in mind that there exists a limit to the amount of mantras of the same type you are allowed to have equipped. This limit however can still be increased via Oaths and Neuroplasticity.

Notes/Trivia[]

  • Each Power increases your maximum health by 4, having 204 HP at Power 1 and scaling up to 280 at Power 20.
  • If drowning at Power 4 and below, you may reach the Cathedral of the Interstice located at the center of The City of the Drowned and be able to return to the overworld without any challenge.
  • If drowning at Power 5 and above, if you reach the Cathedral of the Interstice, you may partake in a trial (defeat an enemy which more often than not, does suit your level of strength) in order to return to the overworld.
  • At Power 5, your character is eligible to create Guilds.
  • At power 10, your character is eligible to wash their face at Lightkeeper Temple, granting access to The Lordsgrove if you have not done this previously.
  • Once at power 15, if entering The Depths by your own accord, you can speak to Klaris at Castle Light and descend to the Eternal Gale. (You must enter through a whirlpool, otherwise you won't get past the life barrier.)
  • Each Power increase cleans your Health Bar if it is stained. This does not work while in The Depths but can still save you from certain death by healing you.
  • The number of times you have been sent to the depths increases a counter named Times Drowned in the summary which adds up the number of Drowns to your Power when calculating which trial you must face.[1]
