“ Look at that! Seems like it fits you just fine. Why not go put it to practice? Hm... Although, it doesn't seem quite attuned to you yet. Nothing you can't figure out, I'm sure. ”

Description

Oath: Arcwarder is one of the 17 obtainable Oaths in Deepwoken. It heavily focuses on defense; four of its passives are defensive, and the other two are mobility. It still allows for a fair bit of offensive play however as dash allows the user to close gaps and maneuver around opponents, and both combat mantras are as effective if not more in aggressive play.

“ Unlike the Central Authority, the Union's identity is not defined wholly by internal hierarchy, lingering military traditions, and loyalty to power. Instead, it is rooted in the solidarity of toil - a sense of kinship among those working for the same goal. ”

The Arc Suit is a defence orientated piece of semi-sentient armour that the Union bestows upon their most trusted. It fuses with the soul of those who swear the oath, allowing them to manifest it around them at will. Arcwarders are sworn to become a conduit of protection to their fellow Union mates and do whatever it takes to defend them. Notably, Arcwarders are the only people known to utilize Plasma in their attacks, likely from a result of the Flamecharm and Thundercall being combined within the suit.

Obtainment

  1. Go to Layer 2 and Complete Alpha's quest.
    1. Activate the Generator.
    2. Talk to Alpha.
    3. Retrieve injured Epsi.
      • Choose option 2 when you talk to Epsi.
        • Option 1 causes Epsi to perish due to the parasites. Epsi will always be outside of Firfire Caverns when you repeat Floor 1, so you may go back and choose the right option if you messed up the first time. (IF YOU TALK TO ALPHA AFTER CHOOSING OPTION 1 YOU WILL BE SOFTLOCKED)
  2. Talk to Alpha again.
  3. Have at least 20 Fortitude, 20 Flamecharm and 20 Thundercall.
  4. Return to surface and talk to Delta at Miner's Landing inside the lower-mountain part of the town, specifically behind the water mill located right where the waterfall is. In order to progress the Oath, you must kill Chaser or Scion of Ethiron

For a more in-depth walkthrough, consider watching this video.

Arcwarder cannot be reobtained if you Oathbreak it.

Progression

Arcwarder Passives and Mantras are obtained via defeating either Chaser or the Scion of Ethiron AND taking Klaris' light hook a total of 4 times (Killing the bosses does not grant progression, taking the light hook Klaris' spawns after killing them (not the one in your inventory) does. So killing chaser, going to floor 2, and using inventory light hook will not grant progression) granting one passive Talent/Mantra per kill until the Oath is fully progressed. Mantras are received every 2 kills in addition to the talents. If you have progressed Arcwarder before, you can skip Arcwarder's progression with 10 knowledge by speaking to Delta again after obtaining the oath.

Effects

This Oath grants +1 Wildcard Mantra Slot and +2 Combat Mantra Slots. When casted, a suit of hulking armor appears around the user. The visor and breastplate both glow yellow, also functioning as a dim source of light.

The Arc Suit gives complete immunity to Parasites in the The Ethironal Shrine, allowing the player to walk over Parasite pools and preventing them latching on by the gales. Additionally, while the Arc Suit is active, it gives its wearer a +15% damage buff on all attacks.

Variants

The following is a list of the default color variants of the Arc Suit, granted when you obtain the Oath. Arc Suit and the Suit's light can be dyed to any color of your choosing.

Note: The Suit is dyed by choosing "Arc Suit" in the dye ui. The Suit's light is dyed by choosing "Arcwarder Cosmetic" in the dye ui.

    • Obtained after second Chaser / Scion of Ethiron kill.
    • Arc Beam - Fire plasma energy. Deals additional damage in PvE.
      • Has a base damage of 20, dealt as Flamecharm and Thundercall damage. Additionally, this scales with both Flamecharm and Thundercall.
      • Can apply both Shock and Burning, or its Path alternate variants.
      • 12s CD.
      • Can be used in the air to shoot under yourself.
        • The Aerial variant has homing properties.
        • The aerial variant gains the Oath damage typing alongside its original Flame and Thunder damage typings. The damage this deals is the same as grounded Arc Beam though.
        • You have to have downwards momentum for this to activate, wait until after the peak of your jump.
      • Instantly grips low health players if the attack were to knock them.
      • Can be cancelled early, letting it explode before hitting a target.
      • While Arc Suit is active, using Arc Beam restores 70% of your current posture. Additionally your Arc Beam will gain a +50% base damage buff during Arc Suit if you have the Arc Module: Enhance Talent.

    • Arc Suit - Conjure and equip your Arcwarder suit.
      • Encases the user in durable armor for 20 seconds.
      • Can be modified with Aeon/Eternal Logstones. Getting to a duration of 1 minute with 3 Aeon/Eternal Logstones, and 1 minute 15 seconds with 4 Aeon/Eternal Logstones. This however also scales up its cooldown.
      • Can be modified with up to 3 Vibrant Gems to increase damage reduction up to 10%.
      • Has i-Frames on the second half of its windup.
      • Orbital Ice is less effective when used alongside the Arc Suit.
      • Comes in Umbral, Black, Gold, Dark Gray, and Light Gray. The Arc Suit and the light emitted from it may also be dyed to any color of your liking.
      • While Arc Suit is active, your Arcwarder Mantras will restore a percentage of your current posture.
    • Obtained with the Oath.

Note: Attacks with multiple damage typings will be resisted by whatever resistance is higher (e.g. if you had 35% Blunt resistance and 30% Wind resistance, you'd resist 35% of Rising Wind's damage). In this case, all of Arcwarder's attacks (except for grounded Arc Beam) deal Oath, Flame, and Thunder damage. This means they will be resisted by either your Flame or Thunder resistance (whichever is higher) unless you're using Oathless and you have less than 20% Elemental resistance.

Trivia

  • This is one of Dexerius' Oaths, along with Blightsurger, Saintsworn, and Visionshaper.[1]
  • The Arcwarder suit originally looked far different but was changed due to it 'not fitting Deepwoken's artstyle.' The original suit was reused for the Immortal Guardians.
    • The Arcwarder suit is inspired by Bondrewd's suit from the anime and manga series Made in Abyss. The Immortal Guardians wear an exact copy of the aforementioned suit, while the Arcwarder suit has been slightly redesigned.
  • Back when Mystics had unique dialogue for every Talent category, Arcwarder had the Mystic line "The Union is absolute."
  • Arcwarder was originally named Arcshifter.[2]
  • The Arcwarder suit is compatible with Equipment Dye, being the only Mantra in the game that can be directly dyed.
  • Prior to the May 1st, 2024 update, the Arc Suit's main color could not be dyed, instead it had a very specific set of colors it would choose from randomly when you obtained the Oath. The Arc Suit's light was also made dyable in this same update, and prior to that update, it would always be yellow.
  • If you are wearing the Arc Suit while gliding and the Arc Suit breaks off, your glider will be forcibly put away.
  • "From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs" Is a quote by Karl Marx's 'Critique of the Gotha Program.'
  • By taking a helmet off via your inventory, hair will be visible even while Arcwarder is active.
  • This, alongside with Blightsurger and Oathless, are the only 3 Oaths that have no cosmetics as the Arc Suit is a Mantra.
  • Dexerius is planning to rework the Oath, adding a "defense mode" and a "attack mode" feature.
