“ You shall connect with the light around us, surrounding all of Lumen. ”

Description

Oath: Dawnwalker is one of the 15 obtainable Oaths in Deepwoken. It focuses mainly on high damage output. Together with Oathless, Linkstrider, Contractor and Fadetrimmer, it is one of 5 Oaths that have no direct stat requirements. Regardless, it is one of the hardest Oaths to obtain, especially for newer players, as it requires multiple expeditions into New Kyrsa, The Sleeping City to obtain and fully upgrade the Oath.

“ Child, do you swear to carry the Light as a weapon against the Deep? To wield the Song only as a Radiant Blade against that which it beckons? ”

This Oath utilizes the power of the Radiant Tones, a Verse of the Song that can reproduce Light, however, it is not the same Light that Lightkeepers use to illuminate the Voidsea to facilitate traversal between luminants. Lightkeepers are born, and cannot be made/taught how to wield the Light they use.

Obtainment

  1. Speak to Klaris Llfiend, Mother of Lights in Castle Light and ask to learn the secret of "radiant magic". This Costs 30 Kyrsan Medallions and gives you the base Oath along with its Blinding Dawn Mantra.
  2. You can upgrade the Oath in exchange for 15 Kyrsan Medallions (per skill) by speaking to Klaris again. The Oath costs 75/105 Medallions in total from base to max. The order you get the upgrades is:
  • Blinding Dawn upon Oath obtainment (30 medallions/60 medallions if Oath broken previously)
  • Radiant Kick (15 medallions)
  • Protagonist Syndrome and Radiant Dawn (15 medallions)
  • Absolute Radiance + Luminous Flash (15 medallions)

Reobtaining Dawnwalker after Oath Breaking it costs 60 Kyrsan Medallions instead of 30.

Effects

This Oath grants 2 Combat Mantra Slots. As for appearance, it changes the eye color of the user to white and creates a Moonseye symbol above their head, with a disk spinning around its axis. The Moonseye can be dyed and both the eye and the disc will follow the dye color.

Abilities

  • Blinding Dawn (★★★) - Combat Mantra
    • Spin rapidly to unleash powerful rays of light.
    • Deals 18 total hits of Oath damage, with 9.333 base damage per hit.
  • Radiant Kick (★★★) - Combat Mantra
    • Kick your foes at the speed of light.
    • Deals a base of 19.5 Oath damage twice.
  • Radiant Dawn (★★★) - Combat Mantra
    • Strike down your foes with your blinding light.
    • Deals 46.5 base Oath damage.
    • This Mantra is unparriable and guardbreaks if anybody attempts to do so.
    • Requires the player to actually hit the floor after the initial leap for the explosion to go off in a certain timeframe.
      • This means that in low-gravity environments such as Scyphozia, this mantra is very inconsistent in combat use.
  • Protagonist Syndrome - Passive: The grasp of shadow is meaningless in the face of your blinding light. Your Dawnwalker mantras are empowered after being hit by Shadowcast.
    • Activates after taking any amount of shadow damage, it looks like Absolute Radiance and has a 9 second duration
    • Increases dawnwalker mantra damage by 30%
  • Luminous Flash - Passive: After dealing a certain amount of damage while in "Absolute Radiance", gain a chance to empower your strikes with pure light.
    • On proc, a basic attack will: Hit the maximum hardcap of damage (1.75x), dazes the target, and grants +45 tempo
    • CD of ~30–50 seconds.
    • Has a small aura on proc.
    • Despite having a definitive cooldown it is possible to activate multiple times in a row resulting in a massive burst of damage. Example: Killing The Ferryman due to three in a short burst.
    • Proccing luminous flash will proc it on all entities hit by that hit
  • Absolute Radiance - Passive: Dealing damage with Dawnwalker mantras briefly makes you immune to all elemental effects for a short period.
    • Activates after doing any amount of damage with dawnwalker mantras, last 7 seconds with a 12 second cooldown on proc.
    • While this is active, gain immunity to the following status effects: Burning, Chill, Shock, Suffocate, Blindness, Metal Rod.
    • Does not clear any active elemental status effects, only prevents new ones from proccing.

Trivia

  • If you have already maxed out Dawnwalker before, you only need 40 Kyrsan Medallions to max out the Oath as it only costs 30 to obtain it, and if you convert the other 10 Kyrsan Medallions to knowledge you can max it out right then and there.
  • Dawnwalker is a nerfed version of yayafino's developer specs.
    • Due to the nature of the Oath being a dev spec, Radiant Kick on release was absolutely one of the best mantras in the game. It was able to deal half a bar of undodgable damage, throw people across the Nomad camp at Etris in terms of range, and be able to be mantra feinted.
  • The passive ability Luminous Flash may be inspired by Black Flash from Jujutsu Kaisen.
  • The ability Absolute Radiance may be a reference to one of the final bosses of the game Hollow Knight, that goes by the same name.
  • Blinding Dawn may be inspired by or a reference to Goro Majima's Breaker style from Yakuza 0, specifically the spinning Power Moves at the end of the basic combos.
  • Radiant Kick may be inspired by the boss Minos Prime from ULTRAKILL, as it highly resembles his "Judgement!" attack.
    • Similarly, Radiant Dawn may be inspired by Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn, similar to Silentheart's Abilities.
  • Although visually similar to Lifeweave, this Oath uses Radiant Magic, which is an imitation of Lightkeeping through the use of Radiant Tones.
  • Originally, Blinding Dawn had this description: "Dance uncontrollably. No one can withstand the sheer groove of your spin routine."
  • This Oath has a requirement of Power 15, as you cannot turn in Kyrsan Medallions to Klaris without it. With this taken into account, while not having a direct stat requirement, Dawnwalker has the technical highest point requirement out of any Oath, at 237. For all intents and purposes, this information should not affect your average progression as it is a functionally costless Oath.
  • Dawnwalker was originally supposed to have a Talent that made the user immune to all fall damage, this was, however, scrapped.
  • Dawnwalker originally also had a mode bar which, when active, would give the user instant tp dashes, this was also scrapped.
  • Dawnwalker is the only Oath besides Fadetrimmer that can be fully obtained and progressed without leaving the Depths.
