Description

Oath: Saintsworn is one of the 17 obtainable Oaths in Deepwoken, being centered around the usage of multiple attunements, and Hero's Blades. It allows you to harness the power of the souls of the Five Heroes and wield their abilities in combat with their souls watching over your strife.

“ Once, I stood with the Five, a hero among them. But loyalty? It's a fragile thing. Betrayal? It's as inevitable as the night. ”

The Five Heroes were considered to be the Saints of their respective attunements back in times of old. Wishing to carry on their legacy after they met their fate, they would make a Vow to infuse their souls into swords after their demise, turning into Hero Blades. The player, upon swearing the Oath, vows to carry on their legacy with the Heroes themselves watching over them.

Obtainment

Saintsworn obtainment requires 15 investment points in the following attunements: Flamecharm, Galebreathe, Shadowcast, Frostdraw, and Thundercall.

After acquiring the needed stats, you then need to resonate (interact with) every obelisk. Left or middle click the gifs to enlarge them. The obelisks can be interacted with in any order, the most time effective method as of now, if starting from Greathive Aratel, appears to be Flamecharm -> Thundercall -> Shadowcast -> (Reset) -> Galebreathe -> Frostdraw, however this can do with refinement if starting from the Etrean Luminant.

Saintsworn cannot be reobtained if you Oathbreak it.

Thundercall

Galebreathe

Flamecharm

Frostdraw

The ice on the floor will kill you instantly and send you to the Depths if you fall into it.

Shadowcast

For a more in-depth walkthrough, consider watching this video.

  • Saintsworn CANNOT be obtained with 75 points in a singular attunement, you need at least 15 points in an attunement to resonate with their respective obelisk- in other words, you need 15 points in the 5 different attunements. It is NOT a combined requirement.
    • Additionally, you do not need a Hero Blade equipped to obtain this Oath.
    • You can obtain Saintsworn without meeting the 15 points in the five base Attunement requirements. Saintsworn does not require you to currently have 15 investment in all base Attunements, instead it does a check for whether or not you've unlocked the dialogue with each Obelisk. This means you can meet the requirements of an Obelisk before Shrine of Order and then still obtain the Oath after Shrine of Order even if you have less than 15 points invested into that Attunement stat.

Progression

To progress Saintsworn, you need to complete 2 World Events (The Doom of Caeranthil or Interluminary Parasol). The first completion will grant Ether Proselyte, Hero's Assist. The second completion will grant Saint's Synergy, Saint's Overload, and Saint's Negation

Alternatively you can use 10 KnowledgeSprite to skip the progression if you've fully progressed this Oath before, by speaking to any Obelisk after obtaining Saintsworn. Warning: this has no confirmation dialogue, entering dialogue will instantly consume your Knowledge. Additionally, this can be still performed even if your Oath is fully progressed, potentially wasting your Knowledge for no benefit.

Abilities

“ The Heroes of the Blade may have fallen in ages past, but in taking up their blades, the torch is carried once again. ”

Weapon

    • Saintsblade
      • By pressing 'L', your weapon changes to the Saintsblade, which is required to use anything related to this Oath. The Saintsblade boasts a staggering 28 Damage, 10% Penetration, a swing speed of 1.04x, a weight of 7, and a range of 8.5.
        • The Saintsblade doesn't scale off of any attribute or trait, nor does it apply elemental status effects. It does, however, gain extra PEN from Proficiency.
        • The Saintsblade shares the star value from your normal weapon, but it won't carry over the Enchant due to effectively being a Legendary Weapon.
          • However, if you have an Enchantment that applies a status effect onto the enemy (e.g. Grim, Sear, or Solar), they will stay active upon switching back to the Saintsblade. (But this is not reccomended, cause usually enchant effect wears off your main weapon too) Visually saintblade can be enchanted, but that does not proc effects of the enchant
      • Criticals - The critical of your Saintsblade will match the corresponding Hero Blade for your current Saint Stance. Using your critical will cycle your Saint Stance.
  • Saint Stances
    • With the Saintsblade equipped, you are able to enter 5 different Saint Stances, corresponding to the 5 elements. Saint Stances are cycled through by using the Critical.
    • For each Stance, the Saintsblade has a unique Critical that it shares with the Hero Blades, gives you access to element-specific passive abilities as given by Hero's Assist and Ether Proselyte, and modifies the Blade of Saints Mantra.
    • The cycle order of stances is based off of your highest-invested attunements, with the stance when you first equip the Saintsblade being your highest one, the second one your second highest, and so on.
      • Unequipping the Saintsblade will reset the cycle order.
    • One of the Chorus Divide Resonance's beams will cycle through all your saint stances.

Talents

Saint Stance-Reliant Talents

These Talents have modified effects based on your current Saint Stance. Due to the sheer amount of information, this segment will be very long.

    • Hero's Assist - Heroes come to your aid based on your Saint Stance.
      • Hero's Assist is a passive ability that relies on the summoning of the past heroes of the attunements themselves to aid you in battle.
      • Which hero is summoned and their effect is dependent on the current Saint Stance.
      • Each passive ability works once per Saint Stance, requiring you to cycle to the next one to reactivate.
        • Hero's Assist: Jace: In the Flamecharm Saint Stance, upon flourishing an enemy, summon the Hero of Flame to set down 3 deadly eruptions in the direction of the flourish, each of which innately proc the The Floor is Lava Talent.
        • Hero's Assist: Trinity Galenwarde: In the Galebreathe Saint Stance, upon using Blade of Saints, a Hero of Gale shoots out a miniscule version of the Galebreathe mantra Tornado at the enemy, while also knocking them away.
        • Hero's Assist: Urek Felhand: In the Shadowcast Saint Stance, upon parrying an attack, summon the Hero of Shadow to do minor damage in an AoE, proccing the talent Sightless Still on anyone hit.
        • Hero's Assist: Faust: In the Frostdraw Saint Stance, upon landing a Frostdraw Mantra, any attuned Mantra while in the Frostdraw Saint Stance, or the Frostdraw-specific Blade of Saints version, summon the Hero of Frost to shoot a barrage of ice projectiles at the enemy.
        • Hero's Assist: Tessa: In the Thundercall Saint Stance, upon casting a mantra for the first time, summon the Hero of Thunder to bolster your attack, greatly decreasing the windup.
    • Obtainment: Defeat The Doom of Caeranthil or Interluminary Parasol
    • Ether Proselyte - All of your Elemental Mantras below Lv. 5 are 1 Mantra level higher. Your Mantras are converted to the element of your active stance.
      • The level change for attuned Mantras is not displayed on their tooltips.
      • Ether Proselyte is a Talent that allows your elemental Mantras to proc the Talents of your currently equipped Saint Stance. This however does not work with all attuned Talents.
        • Ether Proselyte: Flamecharm Stance: In the Flamecharm Saint Stance, all attuned Mantras are able to proc the following Talents:
          • Dancing Steps & Graceful Steps: Your attuned mantras will gain a lunge during their windup, closing distance.
          • Hungry Flames: Your attuned Mantras will consume your Stomach and Thirst meters to cast if you don't have enough Ether. However, this talent will no longer proc when using Flamecharm mantras outside of the Flamecharm Saint Stance.
          • Immolation: Your attuned Mantras will cost 70% less Ether if you're burning.
          • Scorched Peak: Guard breaking your opponent with any attuned Mantra will cause them to be struck by lightning. This can also be caused if you guard break them while they are burning, but that is not exclusive to this Saint Stance.
          • The Final Act: Landing an attuned Mantra after a flourish will cause an explosion.
          • Warding Radiance: Your attuned Mantras will build up halo stacks.
        • Ether Proselyte: Galebreathe Stance: In the Galebreathe Saint Stance, all attuned Mantras are able to proc the following Talents:
          • A World Without Song: After landing 3 hits with any attuned Mantra, apply Suffocation. The hit count requirement will be increased if you have less than 75 Galebreathe.
          • Haunted Gale: Every third attuned Mantra you land will grant the Haunted status effect, spawning a Haunted Gale Ghost or Specter Apparition any time you land a Mantra for the next 8 seconds. The duration of this status effect can be increased to 11 seconds by using the Gale Wisp.
          • Inhale: You can inhale non-Galebreathe Mantras, however their modifiers/the inhale damage buff will not carry over to non-Galebreathe mantras.
          • Shock Trooper Specialist: Conjure a storm strike on your opponent by landing any attuned mantras.
          • Possession: After an apparition hits an enemy, receive 15% posture damage on all attuned mantras for 6 seconds. If the apparition hits while you have Phantom Step activated, receive a 15% chip damage buff as well for the same duration.
        • Ether Proselyte: Shadowcast Stance: In the Shadowcast Saint Stance, all attuned Mantras are able to proc the following Talents:
          • Dark Hours: Your attuned Mantras will gain a 15% damage buff during night or in the depths.

          • Unyielding Inferno: Removes the innate damage debuff Flamecharm Mantras and Twisted Puppets get in the rain while outside of the Flamecharm Saint Stance
      • Obtainment: Defeat The Doom of Caeranthil or Interluminary Parasol

Other Talents

These Talents do not have modified effects depending on Saint Stance, and as such, they luckily won't have such a bloated Talent section.

    • Saint's Negation - Once per stance cycle you can fully block an attack that matches your Saint Stance.
      • Allows you to fully negate the damage of one attack that has a damage type that corresponds with your current Saint Stance.
      • Can only proc once per full cycle, meaning you'll have to fully cycle through all of the Stances before you can proc this effect again.
    • Obtainment: Defeat The Doom of Caeranthil or Interluminary Parasol.
    • Saint's Overload - After a full rotation of stances your elemental scaling is increased by 15% and Mantra Modifier effects increased by 10% for 20 seconds.
      • Increases your Attunement investment scaling by 15% and the effects of your Mantra modifiers by 10% for a few seconds after preforming a full rotation of Saint stances.
      • Can only proc once per full cycle, meaning you'll have to fully cycle through all of the Stances before you can proc this effect again.
      • Turns your Saintsblade and the Saintsworn Oath cosmetic (the swords on your back) white on proc.
    • Obtainment: Defeat The Doom of Caeranthil or Interluminary Parasol twice.
    • Saint's Synergy - 15% of your highest element scaling is applied to other elemental damage.
      • 15% of the investment scaling from your highest Attuned stat is added to your other Attuned Mantras, granting them slight dual scaling.
    • Obtainment: Defeat The Doom of Caeranthil or Interluminary Parasol twice.

Mantras

Combat Mantras

Blade of Saints is the only Saintsworn Mantra. Blade of Saints varies in accordance to your current Saint Stance.

    • Blade of Saints: Flamecharm Saint Stance
      • Rise into the air, and slam down your Saintsblade to apply burn and knockdown to anyone hit.
    • Blade of Saints: Galebreathe Saint Stance
      • You propel yourself forwards with the winds, uppercutting anyone in your wake.
      • Procs Meteor Impact.
    • Blade of Saints: Shadowcast Saint Stance
      • The Saintsblade releases a horizontal mid-range slash of darkness that pulls enemies along with it, knocking them up at the end of its path.
    • Blade of Saints: Frostdraw Saint Stance
      • Use your Saintsblade to shoot out 3 crescent-shaped ice projectiles, followed up by a lunge which applies heavy knockback.
    • Blade of Saints: Thundercall Saint Stance
      • Slash twice with your Saintsblade, applying knockdown on the second hit, followed up by a devastating bolt of lightning that applies stun.
      • Can be modified with Cloud and Stratus Stones to increase the amount of lightning strikes.

Trivia

  • This Oath was created by Dexerius, along with Arcwarder, Blightsurger, and Visionshaper.
  • The 15 investment requirement in each attunement only applies to talking to their respective obelisk, not to obtaining the Oath in general. This means, you can talk to a number of the obelisks pre-Shrine of Order while you still meet their requirements, and then talk to the remaining obelisks post-Shrine of Order to obtain the Oath with less than 15 invest in some of your attunements.
  • The text that appears when training an attunement, "The elements are not in alignment..." is a hint towards obtaining Saintsworn and was added with the release of the Oath.
  • Saint's Synergy, Ether Proselyte('s Mantra level increasing effect), and Hero's Assist can all proc when not using the Saintsblade. The rest of the Saintsworn Oath does nothing while not using the weapon.
  • The Saintsblade had the most base M1 damage amount at 30 that was changed to 28 before being dethroned by the Sovereign Bangle and the Metal Greatsword.
  • Ironically, this Oath does NOT require the user to be wielding a Heroblade of any kind.
  • Saintsworn's cosmetic, the Pseudo-Hero's Blades, cannot be dyed.
  • Saintsworn gives the most mantra slots out of any Oath, being 5 total mantra slots, making it incredibly flexible and spammable.
  • Saint's Overload's duration running out is signified by the flying blade that it changes color to white.
  • The 5 blades on your back will vanish one by one after Hero's Assist is triggered.
  • Your Attunement Path will affect the color of your Saintsblade in the corresponding stance.
  • The color of the current Saint Stance will apply to: Ysley's Pyre Keeper's neon sections, Ignition Deepcrusher's blade/hammer head, Hailbreaker's blade , Soulwrought Axe's head, and Soulwrought Dagger's blade. For some of these, the coloration change may not be visually apparent, especially if the natural color for these parts are darker colors like black.
Pyre Keeper's color changing when using its Critical with Saintsworn

Pyre Keeper's color changing when using its Critical with Saintsworn

    • According to Nuttoons, this is because in the game's code, the game looks for meshes named "Blade" within your currently equipped weapon to apply the Saintsblade color to.[1][2]
  • Each Obelisk is surrounded by a kind of damaging floor hazard. Flamecharm's is surrounded by lava; Galebreathe's is surrounded by acid; Thundercall's is surrounded by a bright yellow floor hazard that applies Shock; and Frostdraw's is surrounded by a cyan floor hazard that applies Chill. All except for Shadowcast, which is already in quite a hazardous position: at the top of the Moon's Eyrie, a Voidzone that experiences periodic wind that can knock you off of it.
