Description[]
The Shattered Katana is an endgame Medium Weapon, dropping from chests in high-level locations like Starswept Valley or The Depths. It has a base damage of 20 with 30% PEN, and requires 90 MED and Power 10 to equip.
Taking scaling into account, it deals 29.45 damage at 90 MED. At 100 MED, it deals 30.5 damage. The "Paired Soul" Talent from the Vigil Initiate, Cloak of Winds, and Royal Etrean Guard outfits buffs its damage by 5%; this results in 30.92 damage at 90 MED and 32.02 damage at 100 MED.

While one handed it uses the default Katana crit, but gains a unique crit while two handed. For the two handed crit, the user does a quick vertical and horizontal slash, which are followed with two additional delayed aftercuts.

- Its model resembles the Black Mortal Blade, a weapon from Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
- Fittingly, the two-handed critical was inspired by Isshin the Sword Saint, who wields the blade.
- It is one of four weapons that comes with a scabbard, the others being the Katana, Purple Cloud, and Bloodfouler.
- Therefore, it also works with the Poser's Ring and can be used to start Zana's quest.
- It's appropriate that the scabbards of both the Shattered and regular Katana are placed cutting-edge facing upwards: many samurai preferred to draw their swords facing downward only if they were wearing armor, as that would prevent the blade from getting caught on it. Conversely, they would wear their katana facing upwards without armor since that wouldn't be an issue; as most outfits in Deepwoken lack heavy armor, it makes sense for the scabbard to be facing up.
- The incredible length of the blade would classify this weapon as an ōdachi, as opposed to a katana.
- Despite its blade being much longer than the Katana, both weapons have the same range of 8.
- The Talent "Paired Soul" (granted by the Vigil Initiate, Cloak of Winds, and Royal Etrean Guard outfits) buffs the Shattered Katana's damage by 5% instead of the Katana's 25%.
- Both weapons deal very similar damage at equivalent attribute levels. Their main differences become the PEN.
- On release, the Shattered Katana had 50% PEN and 0.75x swing speed (Which is 1x swing speed of now). It also received the full 25% damage buff from Paired Soul which was later nerfed to it's current 5%.
