- The following article contains a glossary for general game terms related to Deepwoken used by players. If you were looking for the in-game dialogue mechanic, see Glossary.
General Terms[]
These are mostly terms created and used by the community, and see little, if any, official use in-game, but are common phrases that many players use.
Boosted[]
adjective
- A player that uses high-quality equipment yet lacks the skill to back it up.
- Also: a player that uses high-quality equipment, especially that obtained in the endgame, whose skill is low enough to presume they did not earn it themselves.
- Ex. "I just killed some boosted trash when they tried to gank me earlier"
- A player that needs help from friends cause he cannot fight a boss or beat a mob without their help.
Usage of the term makes the assumption that the player being referenced was 'boosted up' by being given good items by more experienced friends of theirs. This term originates from Rogue Lineage, which is why it makes more sense in there as in Rogue you can much more easily get "Boosted".
Chime[]
noun
- A shortened version of "Chime of Conflict".
Comp/Compy[]
adjective
- (Competitive) A very good, very competitively viable build, Talent or other ability; meta.
- Ex. "Is Twister Kicks comp?"
noun
- Competitive play (PvP, chime).
- A PvP/competitively focused guild.
- Ex. "Yo guys wanna join my comp guild?"
Freshie[]
noun
- A newly created character, usually wearing the Stranded, Diver Apprentice, or Whaler Initiate outfit. The threshold for the maximum power level for being classified as a freshie differs, but is usually around Power 6.
- A player who is new to Deepwoken.
- Ex. "I saw a freshie get ganked earlier, they didn't stand a chance."
- Ex. "The freshie from lower erisia tried to fight a sharko but, cause of his skill issue, he got crushed"
Health pack[]
noun
- Refers to an NPC or Monster that is weak and only serves to replenish health when killed. Examples depend on context.
- If it's in the First Layer of the Depths, it refers to the Gigamed (Small version)
- If it's during the Scion of Ethiron fight, it refers to the Kyrsgarde that spawns.
- May also be used generally anywhere to refer to any easily slain mob.
- A weak player or enemy who's easy to beat or bad at the game.
- Ex: "I'm not playing with you freshie, because you're a healthpack and you gonna die to everything"
- Ex. "No way he is so trash in ganking bro, we lost the war because of him. What a healthpack!"
- This usage of the term comes from the same as meaning 1 above, as players also give healthpacks, but is a less literal term and more used as an insult.
- The health gained via knocking a player, humanoid, or killing a monster.
Permafreshie[]
noun
- Someone who often plays the game but never progresses beyond freshie level.
- Ex. "Just ganked some permafreshie, he had some good loot."
- A player who is inexperienced or underskilled in Deepwoken.
- Ex. that permafreshie died to a sharko, there's no way he can't parry a simple slash
Permanent + Freshie = Permafreshie

"5 barred" or "5 bar" can be used to humiliate someone bad at PvP, or imply that they are. It can also be used in a joking or ironic context.
Also, "5 bar" is generally able to be said after having won a fight while above 4 bars, because the speaker has most likely already been hit at least once, no longer having exactly 5 full bars of HP.

Parry[]
verb
- To perfectly block an attack by pressing the "F" key at the right time. There will be a large, yellow spark at the clash of your weapon and their attack.
