- “ Ah yes... I know just the ones. Caught one of the freaks the other day. Blasted thing kept slicin' me line, so I swapped it out for a metal one. Got that from a mermaid, I did. Worked a treat. Meat isn't good on the purples one though. ”
Also known as Headcrabs, Turtles, Crabs, or Bedbugs.
Description[]
The Terrapod is a Monster notorious for having weird parry timings and attack animations, having very high movement during attacks and shredding health quickly if you're not careful.
Terrapods are purple crab-like creatures with four legs each that end in sharp claws. They have a hard shell covered in spikes, with a mouth on the bottom for eating victims. The material that forms its shell and claws is a much darker shade of purple than its flesh. It uses it claws to rapidly slash enemies and put pressure on anyone in its way without hesitation, and can be told apart from other monsters from a distance simply by the loud slashing sounds they make each time they attack. All things considered, Terrapods are pretty mindless as they follow the same pattern and repeat the same attacks. Don't let it catch you off-guard though, as it's attacks can destroy your health very quickly.
The bloodsoaked crimson variant has higher health, and causes the enemy to face devastating Bleed damage on top of their strange timings, making each missed defensive opportunity cost not only more health but also more blood, which may prove lethal if you have no way to regain said blood.
Terrapods struggle with reaching high places due to not being able to jump very high. Their heavy shell leaves them unable to swim, though they are seemingly unaware of this fact, often falling straight to the Depths while attempting to pursue their foes. If you are not ready to fight this foe, you can escape their attacks simply by running and climbing to higher ground, or getting on a boat. Terrapods have relatively low walkspeed and an erratic back-and-forth movement pattern when compared to other monsters, and their walkspeed is only hindered further by their attacks.
Attacks[]
Finisher[]
| Name | Description |
|---|---|
| Consume | The Terrapod lowers its mouth onto the player and delivers a killing blow by crushing their chest. Unlike other monsters that have "cutscene grips," this grip in particular is horrifyingly fast and will kill you in less than a second. |
Passives[]
- Cruentare (Crimson Only) - The Crimson Terrapod, with its excessively sharp and serrated claws and stronger shell armor, inflicts Bleed on every slash, draining your blood and dealing 30% more damage.
- Monster Resistance - Physical attacks deal ??? less damage to Terrapods.
Tips and Notes[]
- It's recommended to dodge or just move out of a Terrapod's way instead of parrying due to the confusing parry window and the carelessness of its attacks (they don't auto-track).
- By landing a few hits and running to avoid its attacks, you can kill one of these without blocking, parrying or dodging.
- This monster is hostile towards every other monster in Upper Erisia.
- Terrapods are one of the only monsters that cannot be snuck up on from any direction.
- There are three guaranteed spawns for a Terrapod:
- One near the entrance of The Garden Reservoir
- One in front of the ruins near the Legendary Boot
- One sitting under a tree behind the Bandit Camp in Lower Erisia
