Description[]

The Covenant of Flame are a group of Flamecharmers and scholars who worship Amorus Pleeksty and study his way of using Flamecharm.

They are primarily made up of Pleeksty's disciples, also known as Flamepriests[1] or Flamekeepers[2], who specialize in the teaching and research of Flamecharm and Pleeksty's understanding of it. This leads to their members holding high-reverence for Pleeksty and his philosophy, with some desiring that Pleeksty grant them a final-death himself as a sign of faith[3]

Their leader, Amorus Pleeksty, is the Deepwoken of Korilfiend, the Inferno's Provenance, and the pioneer of Flamecharm. He would travel to the 3rd Layer of the Depths, and come across Korilfiend's garden, where he consumed a flower imbued with a fragment of the Drowned God. This granted him the ability to "charm" fires, allowing him to use the Flamecharm attunement more efficiently and safely. He would use this knowledge to teach proper Flamecharm usage to the rest of the world, founding the main philosophies of the Covenant and their followers.

The Flamepriests believe in embracing a divide between the Flame and the Depths; the Depths being the threat towards human-life, and the Flame being the essence of mankind as a whole[4]

Their philosophies and teachings are mainly learnt through the works of Pleeksty, such as "The Eternal Flame and the Failure of Man"[5], training in Flamecharm, or through a fellow Flamepriest who is well-versed in them[6]. Those who successfully grasp the teachings will gain better control of Flamecharm, and can use specialized techniques modelled after them

A notable part of their philosophy is the Inner Flame, a representation of the soul that burns within each person; some Flamecharmers can put this concept into practice by igniting themselves with the flame, empowering their flame mantras.[7]

Geographically and politically, they don't hold much influence beyond the Tiran homelands of the Western Luminant where they are praised for their work, and potentially Layer 3 of the Depths, The Vents, due to their leader currently residing there.

Whether they possess a military force or not is currently unknown, as no squadrons or group-expeditions have been recorded in-lore or seen in-game; this may simply be due to combative members not appearing in-game yet aside from a singular mini-boss.

They mainly wear the Flame Worshipper Armor (with one known exception), due to it baring the Covenant's emblem, as well as presumably being made with a material that can extinguish flames quickly in-case of emergency. It is known that Pleeksty sometimes imbues flames into weaponry and equipment, as a sign of gratitude; such as with Pleeksty's Inferno, a club that was gifted to him as tribute, and later passed on-to Aska who was entrusted to return it at a later-time[3]
