Description[]
The Fisherman is a powerful enemy found in The Depths. It can spawn randomly as an event, or more likely as a quest for The Divers (found on the Quest Board in Castle Light or in/around The City of the Drowned). They use the Thundercall attunement and the Chainwarden Oath, implying that they have ties to The Central Authority. They possess abnormally high Health and do a decent amount of damage.
It MAY scale off the level of person that took the quest. This is currently unknown.
The Fisherman wears a Grand Fisher Helm and Grand Fisher Plate, and is guaranteed to drop both on death. They use a Halberd with a guaranteed random enchantment.

The Fisherman uses their enchanted Halberd in addition to Thundercall and Chainwarden Mantras:

Dialogues[]
The Fisherman is able to speak and usually says some phrases when spawning in, such as:
- "The Prophets spoke the truth! KEHAHAH!"
- "What's the point?! Why struggle?!"
- "Kehah... KEHAHAHAH!"
- "Why struggle? Why bother?..."
Finisher[]
The Fisherman executes its opponents after knocking them:

Tips[]
- The Fisherman has a very high amount of health, thus it is recommended for the player to be Power 16+ when engaging with them.
- Simply bringing a friend along can help.
- Be mindful of whatever Enchantment it has. Its damage is surprisingly lackluster without them, but enchantments like Detonation and Elastic can cause a lot of problems in terms of damage output and being pulled back if trying to run.
- The Fisherman is not aggressive to nearby monsters, and they will not attack it. Fight with this in mind. You do not want to be fighting The Fisherman at the same time as a Mudskipper Broodlord, especially if it's corrupted.
- If one deals sufficient damage to the other, they will start fighting, but this is unreliable.
- The best and easiest way to beat The Fisherman is to take it to Light's Causeway and parry its attacks until the Castle turret kills it.
- Gigameds can help with restoring health, especially around Light's Causeway, but if they stun you mid-fight, it can prove a problem.
- The Fisherman is a Chainwarden, making running away really hard, especially in tandem with Lightning Stream. If you engage with them, don't run if you're not confident in your ability to escape.
- If trying to run, keep in mind The Fisherman is bound by the movement limitations of any other humanoid mob.
- The Fisherman does have high posture, but it's fairly low compared to their health pool, and seems to be similar to the posture of the Immortal Guardian. Take advantage of this via using Mantras and weapons with high posture damage.
Trivia[]
- The Fisherman's armor, the Grand Fisher Set is based off of Sajin Komamura's armor from the anime Bleach, this is directly referenced in the concept art for the set.
- Furthermore, the name of the armor set may reference the Hollow Grand Fisher from the same series.
- The glowing parts on their helmet greatly resemble the emblem for The Divers, implying he was formerly a member turned against them.
- The armor could be the Diver's version of an Arc Suit, reinforced by the passive abilities of the set.
- According to their dialogue when first spawning in, they could be an Authority or Diver member that has been brainwashed by The Ministry, or they have gone insane due to being in the First Layer for too long. Furthermore, they cryptically speak of "the prophets", likely the nine Ministry prophets.
- Their mannerisms of speech are somewhat similar to Regek's.
- The Fisherman's armor shares quite a few similarities to the armor worn by the "Delta series" in Bioshock.
