“ Fine workers of the Union,
Come hear our hammer call!
We'll stand in solidarity -
Shoulder to shoulder, together, tall!
Shoulder to shoulder, together, tall! ”

Description[]

The Ignition Union is a faction found primarily throughout the Eastern Luminant and The Depths. They are a renowned freelancer company and labor union that specializes in trade, technology, R&D, and Depths exploration.

Their main base of operations is the mountainous Miner's Landing, located in the Eastern Luminant. Additionally, they have established two field bases in the Depths: The Chariot's Spire in Scyphozia and The Frontier Furnace in the first floor of the Eternal Gale.

The Ignition Union are responsible for producing weapons such as the Ignition Deepcrusher and the Boltcrusher along with the Railblade, as well as technologies such as the Arc Suit.

They are one of the three factions contracted by The Authority alongside The Divers and the Summer Company. The Ignition Union are specifically tasked with going into the Depths and "killing anything that crawls out".

The Ignition Union has instigated and maintains a mutually hostile relationship with the Summer Company; alongside various ideological differences, the Summer Company manufactures valuable gunpowder and explosives that are of use to the Union in their many research projects.

The union also shares an unfriendly rivalry with the Divers, and they frequently engage in petty, violent squabbles over territory in the Depths. Akira, who does not view them as human beings anymore, refers to them as "Mudskippers" after killing several of them with his Resonance, and the aforementioned members of the Union that engaged him in combat seemed prepared to callously kill him on the spot.

Unlike the traditional hierarchy practiced by the likes of The Divers and the Central Authority, the ranks of the Ignition Union are primarily structured on the value an individual has contributed to the collective. High-ranking Ignition Union members are known as Ignition Deepdelvers, and are known for their heavy contribution and sacrifice to the Union and its members.

Reputation[]

Like other factions such as The Summer Company, having negative reputation will have vendors deny you service within their affected territories. Additionally, you will be attacked by guards on sight. If the player has positive reputation, guards will not finish you off if they down you and will instead scold you and return to their post.

You can reset your reputation with Maura, who is standing inside a house on top of a cliff in Miner's Landing. Reaching her requires either parkour, mobility mantras, or the Union Hook Talent, and the price range is 30 to 300 Notes.

The Ignition Union is among the factions to have a Bounty Board, which means that negative reputation with them leads to being hunted by Voidwalkers.

Having Hunted reputation will cause you to be hunted by Arcwarders and Mechalodaunts

  • "Come on, quit dawdling, I'm sure you have better places to be."

  • "You on your break or something? Some of us still have work."
  • "Come on, get moving, I'm sure you have better places to be."

Trivia[]

  • Whilst being executed, Ignition Union NPCs may call the player a "scab". A scab is a pejorative term for individuals hired during an ongoing labour strike to keep a company operating at the bare minimum efficiency until the strike is dissolved. Alternatively, it may just be an insult based on the substances that forms over wounds.
  • Despite the Ignition Union's feuds with the Divers and the Summer Company, they are all ironically contracted in some capacity to the Central Authority.
  • The Ignition Union has its own anthem, titled "The Hammer's Call," a modern adaptation of an Adretian folk song penned by a "Gawain Corbet" in the year 1272.
  • Miner's Landing is one of two cities in-game to be focused on industrialism more than medievalism along with Summer Isle.
  • The Ignition Union is one of four factions that have an Oath tied to them.
  • One of two factions to create and utilize Monsters, the other being The Hive.
  • Some Ignition Union NPCs are named after Greek terms:
    • Alpha, Delta, and Epsilon are letters in the Greek alphabet.
    • Orion is one of the 48 constellations listed by Ptolemy, an ancient Greek astronomer.
  • Opposed to what their name might suggest, they’re predominantly Ironsing users.
