Description[]
A Thundercall infused sword
Thundercall is an Attunement which grants the user the ability to control, conjure and create thunder and electricity, giving them access to abilities which focus on combat, stunning, and movement.
Thundercall makes use of a highly unpredictable nature due to its speed and high slow/stun potential.
Obtainment[]
The Attunement Trainer, Funke, can be located in one of the rooms on the upper level of the Summer Isle castle. When speaking to him, he will request five (5) Spark Glands. If you have obtained Thundercall previously on your account, he will request two (2) Spark Glands instead. Once you give him the Spark Glands, he will hand you the Sparkblood Potion; drink this to obtain Thundercall. Alternatively, you can simply pick the Random option when selecting your Attunement in the character creation screen, this has a chance of unlocking Thundercall without you needing to unlock it yourself. If you don't get it the first time, you can just wipe and retry until you get it. This works for all other Attunements as well (excluding Shadowcast, Ironsing and Bloodrend).
Training[]
Thundercall can be trained with a combination of the Self-Conducting Loop and using Thundercall Mantras.
Along with all other elements, users can see their Mantras becoming stronger with practice:
- At 1 Thundercall, players will receive the Thundercaller Talent. This allows players to obtain 0-star Thundercall Mantras.
- At 20 Thundercall, players will receive the Adept Thundercaller Talent. This allows players to obtain 1-star Thundercall Mantras.
- At 30 Thundercall, players will receive the Expert Thundercaller Talent. This allows players to obtain 2-star Thundercall Mantras.
- Finally, at 50 Thundercall, players will receive the Master Thundercaller Talent. This allows Thundercall users to obtain 3-star Thundercall Mantras.
You can speak to Funke to upgrade your Thundercall Mantras for 100
each. Each upgrade purchased will make the next upgrade for the same Mantra 100
more expensive.
- To upgrade a Thundercall Mantra from level 1 to level 2 costs 100
and requires 20 Thundercall investment. - To upgrade a Thundercall Mantra from level 2 to level 3 costs 200
and requires 40 Thundercall investment. - To upgrade a Thundercall Mantra from level 3 to level 4 costs 300
and requires 60 Thundercall investment. - To upgrade a Thundercall Mantra from level 4 to level 5 costs 400
and requires 80 Thundercall investment.
Purchasing Mantra levels will cost 50% more Notes when using the Songwright NPC.
Thundercall Unbound can be obtained by defeating any humanoid boss (Duke, Chaser, Ferryman, etc), while having 75 points invested into the attunement.

Trivia[]
- All Thundercall damage receives a 5% damage buff when it is raining. Stratoshock further increases this damage buff to 10%.
- Electro Carve was formerly a 0-star mantra.
- Lightning Strike prints out the coordinates of where the strike was in the F9 log. This means that you can use Lightning Strike as a makeshift or bootleg compass.
- Bolt Piercer was formerly a legendary mantra, now either rare or common.
- Lightning Cloak used to be named Vanishing Cloak.[1]
- The "Static Fakeout" Talent can be used with Spine Cutter.
- In the book Our Fortress, Vincent Zeneke notes that the Thundercaller's use of the Canjolin instrument spawned a method of overdrive.
- The Mantra Grand Javelin is similar to the Miracle Lightning Spear from Dark Souls, having a shared sound effect and casting animation.
- In Deepwoken testing, known as Oldwoken, Thundercall used to be blue instead of yellow. Even with the addition of Surge Path, the original color is still lost to the ages.
- Surge is a more purple shade compared to Oldwoken Thundercall, which was a light blue.
- Thundercall used to be the most damaging attunement before it was nerfed greatly.
- Rising Thunder is a reference to Kakashi's Raikiri: Sōraishin from the videogame Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm.
- Lightning Impact with the "Rain Of Static" Talent, allows the user to lower their elevation by sliding, making the windup on their slam way shorter but at the same time keeping them at an unsafe level. The user can also increase their elevation off the ground through by any means such as aerial combos or hopping off a wall to make the wind-up on their slam longer, not letting opponents auto-parry it due to parrying the projectiles.
- Similarly to every other Wisp mantra, Thunder Wisp gives the player a finger on the hand that casts the mantra
- During the early days of Deepwoken, Grand Skewer was notorious for a bug that allowed it to instantly kill whatever it hit if an entity was already stuck on it. This often occurred when the already-skewered victim died. Dying to this bug would take lives in the overworld and wipe you in The Depths, and it was fixed a little over two months after the game's release.
- For this reason, Legion Snipers were considered to be fairly dangerous when fought as a group.
- Emotion Wave is a direct reference to the Ancient Dragons' Lightning Strike incantation from Elden Ring
- It is said by Neero that Thundercall can "power" golems to "give life" to them.
- The Railblade was originally intended to be a legendary weapon for this attunement.
- Before the Perfect Cast mechanic was removed, Jolt Grab and Flame Grab were among very few abilities and the only Mantras to have an innate unique interaction with it. When Perfect Casted, the duration of these Mantras would be shortened and capped, playing "extinguish"-like VFX unique from the regular version.
- A video summarizing this effect can be found here.
