Miscellaneous[]
Aeons ago, a long extinct species faced a cultural schizm in response to the rising tides. Those Talented few were blessed with the art of Lifeweaving. They vowed to turn their backs to the tides and grow great living hives above the ocean deep becoming what we in the modern world know as Vesperians. The few embracing the coming waves sunk to the deep and settling in as it's latest drowned inhabitants. These adventurous folk became what we know as Ganymedes.
Ganymedes are the antithesis to Vesperians. While the Vesperians fight against The Depths, the Ganymedes adapt to it. However, both of them are considered "weird" and outcasted by other aspects.
This fits with our current understanding of the lore and would explain why they are able to be cousins. Along with this, Vesperians possess Ganymede-like eyes under their masks. (For more, read Ancestors of Ganymedes & Vesperians)

Vesperian Masks[]
Vesperian Masks have full dye compatibility, as you can dye the Mask and the Ink separately. To dye the Mask's Ink, you need to dye your Mask first, after this the option to dye your Mask's Ink will show up. You can press submit without changing anything on your Mask dye to keep the base Mask color without spending a Dye Packet.

Trivia[]
- Vesperians may be somewhat based off Bombardier Beetles. Their name however is based off of the Vespa (Hornets), the largest eusocial vespidae (Wasps).
- Vesperians were inspired by the game Hollow Knight.
- The old Blindseer mask may have been a reference to the Sheikah from the Legend of Zelda series.
- There are 7 mask shapes and 22 ink variations, allowing for 154 unique mask combinations!
- The aspect variants for Vesperian are based on various armour pieces typically worn by knights. A sabaton is a shoe, a besague is a type of rondel that protects the shoulder, and a plackart is a type of torso armour/chestplate.
- Vesperians have Ganymede eyes underneath the mask, as in the lore they came from the same ancestors who branched away from one another.
- Hallowtide Vesperians have the same purple eye color as Hallowtide Ganymede.
- Arch_Mage has also mentioned the masks are organic, meaning they grow over time.
- During the 4/1/2022 April Fools update (Mudwoken), Vesperian aspect name was changed to Maskskipper.
- Wearing a helmet (such as the Authority Helm) does not remove the mask, and instead opts to clip into it
- Vesperians are considered one of the best aspects in the game, due to their natural armor granting an actual combat advantage by making you take less damage.
The old Blindseer mask
- Vesperian used to have a special mask ink variant with the Blindseer Oath, this was later replaced with the current glyph.
- The Chitin Talent (aspect ability) can be stacked with the Exoskeleton Talent in order to make your natural armor resist up to 13% physical damage. The effect of Chitin is reduced to 3% with the Exoskeleton Talent.
- Vesperian and Lightborn are the first aspects to receive a cosmetic in the UGC Avatar Shop.
- As with other hivekin, Vesperians share similar names. (Vesperian: Sekhigi, Ganymede: Sekhige, Chrysid: Sehika)
- The developers, Nuttoons and Arch_Mage, have the Primal Vesperian aspect as a Developer Spec, giving them horned variants of the mask, most likely based on the primal aspid enemies in Hollow Knight.
- The 16th mask on the list is taken from one of Arch_Mage's first games, Yggdrasil. Seen on one of the monsters, the mask in-game is slightly altered, as can be seen here.
